Welcome to Red Rock Homestead.
We are excited to share with you our farm and what Red Rock Homestead is all about. To be honest, I am not a professional blogger, or have fancy words to say. What I do have to offer is honesty, integrity and a wholesome way of living. We work hard every day to raise the beef, work with the ponies, and take care of the business of the farm. So, here we go.
Today is blistery cold out. When the boys come in for dinner, I have a great big pot of beef soup on the stove. Made with our tender and flavorful soup bones, carrots and onions. I let the meat cook slowly all night in the crock pot to pull the flavor and collagen out of the bones. ( you can cook the bones with some vinegar in water for 24 hours to pull out more collagen from the broth if you would like) With a loaf of warm bread coming out the oven, dinner is served.
FYI- On the farm, the food-lingo goes as this. (It took me a bit to get use to it, as I did not grow up on a farm)
- Breakfast
- 10 am coffee
- Noon- that’s dinner.
- 4pm – that’s lunch
- Depending on time of year, supper is anytime between 7:30-10pm
- After supper, maybe a bowl of ice cream:)
Thankful for a freezer full of great prime beef that we know what’s in, where it came from and how it was raised.
